    130 Currently no versions of bitbake in the portage tree are marked stable so bitbake must be keyworded if you run a stable system. You should definitely run the latest version of bitbake, currently 1.8.12.

Unfortunately this version hasn't made its way into the official gentoo repository yet, but it can be found in the oswald overlay which can be pulled from git as shown below.
