Widgets

What is a Widget?

A widget is a small box of information that can be positioned around your profile page that shares information about you and the Beaversource community by presenting individual group and project memberships, information from user pages, message boards, external resources like Google Calendar and Twitter, as well as favorite videos.

Drag-and-Drop Widget Placement


Beaversource's profile framework allows users to easily position their Widget in a a simple drag-and-drop interface. Follow the tutorial below to setup Widgets on your profile page.

1. On your profile, click Edit page.


2. On the right side of the screen is a list of widgets. Click and hold the direction icon located on the gray bar of the widget you want to move. Drag the widget to either the left, middle, or right columns in the Profile box


3. When you're done placing your widgets, click Save.


4. Your profile will now reflect the placement of your widgets.



Video Widget


Once you have a placed a video widget on your profile page, follow the these steps to select a video.

1. Click Edit found in the top right corner of the video widget.


2. From a video site (Youtube, Metacafe, etc.), paste the chosen video's URL into the Video URL field. Click Save after you have given the video a title and provided comments.


3. Your video widget will then appear on your profile relative to your video choice and placement of widget.



Google Calendar Widget


Once you have a placed a Google Calendar widget on your profile page, follow the these steps to select a calendar.

1. Click Edit found in the top right corner of the Google Calendar widget.


2. Enter your Google Calendar ID (usually your Google email address, login to Google calendar to check) and set your access restrictions: Private, Friends, Logged in users or Public. When you're finished, click Save


3. Your Calendar will now show up on your profile.



Twitter Widget


Once you have a placed a Twitter widget on your profile page, follow the these steps to setup your Twitter widget.

1. Click Edit found in the top right corner of the Twitter widget.


2. Enter your Twitter username, select how many tweets to show in the widget, set your access restrictions and then click Save.


|3. Your Twitter will now display your Tweets.
